Bad back sufferers of Coventry offered help by University

University's new Sports Therapy clinic welcomes the public.

Sports people and non sports people of Coventry are welcome to get treatment at new clinic


A new Sports Therapy clinic has opened at Coventry University and will be open to members of the public.

The facility, situated on campus in the George Elliot building, will be manned by final year Sports Therapy students, with a highly-qualified team of experienced clinicians on hand to help with physiotherapy, back problems, muscle strains and sports injuries.

Special guest David Moorcroft OBE, former 5,000 metres world recorder holder, is set to introduce the formal opening of the clinic on Monday 1st November, after which all-comers will be invited to take advantage of the new facility.

The George Elliot building, which houses the clinic, can be found on Cope Street, opposite the Coventry Baths and sports centre bus stop on Cox Street, city centre.

Services offered at Coventry University's new Sports Therapy Clinic

The new Sports Therapy Clinic at Coventry is manned by final year students who work under the supervision of experienced clinicians and will offer the following services/treatments:

fitness assessments including joint testing and functional movement screening
strapping, taping, and massage 
Advise on stretching, warming up and cooling down exercises. 
examining and assessing injuries;
treating injuries, alleviating pain, mobilizing injuries, giving various types of massage;
rehabilitate injuries by using manipulative techniques, apparatus and electrotherapy;
Designing and monitoring rehabilitation programmes appropriate to the injury and the sport.

Treatments are available to Coventry University students and staff as well as members of the general public for all joint and muscle injuries whether sporting or non-sporting.

Each appointment lasts between 30 minutes and one hour and cost £20.00 (£10.00 for Students) and are available at the following times:

Monday 1.00pm - 6.00pm
Tuesday 12.00pm - 5.00pm
Wednesday Closed
Thursday 1.00pm - 6.00pm
Friday 9.00am - 2.00pm
