Teaching and teaching assistant jobs in Coventry

 

There are over 130 schools in Coventry and with the birth rate in the city increasing, more school places in Coventry will be required and consequently there will be new teaching jobs in Coventry.

Some of these schools are now specialising in the Arts, Music, Sports, Languages, Business and Enterprise, Mathematics and Computing, Technology and other specialist subjects.

Most of the secondary schools in Coventry have a sixth form centre and many schools share resources so that students may have to take some specialist lessons at other Coventry schools or even further education colleges.

These schools are mostly run by the Local Education Authority (LEA), Coventry City Council. However there are an increasing number of academies being created in Coventry from existing LEA run schools, a policy that is controversial and is meeting with resistance from the teachers unions and some parents.

Coventry also has a well established private education sector which provides job opportunities from time to time.

Even in these austere times there is never a shortage of teaching jobs in Coventry and other jobs in the education sector such as teaching assistant jobs.

There is also demand for specialist teachers such as SEN, and supply teachers jobs in Coventry are always available with various agencies running ongoing recruitment campaigns.

Coventry is also home to the University Of Warwick Institute Of Education which trains new teachers. These students do their placements in many Coventry schools and go on to work in Coventry schools as newly qualified teachers (NQT).

Apart from the schools in Coventry there are also two large further education colleges in Coventry, City College and Henley College. These colleges sometimes have teaching jobs available and offer further opportunities for those looking for teaching jobs in Coventry and other jobs in education.

The neighbouring LEA's are Warwickshire County Council and Solihull Borough Council. Warwickshire's jurisdiction covers towns such as Alcester, Atherstone, Bedworth, Coleshill, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton, Rugby, Stratford upon Avon, and Warwick.

Solihull covers towns and villages close to Coventry such as Balsall Common, Meriden and knowle.

These towns near Coventry also have many private schools and there is also the trend of LEA schools becoming academies in these towns.
